Ubuntu 11

This last week I have been horribly sick. The kind of sick you just want to curl up and wake up when they find the cure.  But since I still haven't perfected my krojenic chamber, I curled up with the newest version of Virtualbox and let the Ubuntu juices flow.... While Ubuntu did not cure my cold I did come up with some interesting observations. A bit of perspective In the last month I have been "forced" to Mac by my employer.  I am not complaining, but having been a hard core Linux user there were some fundamental differences that had to be over come.  And I am grateful for the upgrade. Although I still cuss at the Mac Keyboard Layouts.... Home , End ... what was Mac Thinking... aside from that the transition was very smooth and the machine has been rock solid. Back to the story At first I was very upset at Ubuntu for the changes, it looked like a "toy" interface.  But the more I used it the more I realized it was modeled after Mac.  Seriously, take the app bar and move it to the left side... and you have Unity... the menus are even "remarably" similarly laid out.  While I will agree Unity is NOT Mac, it looks...

Codeigniter and Zend Framework Simple thoughts

Ok, the question which framework is not fair.  It is like asking what is better a hammer or a drill.  Well it depends on what you are trying to do. I have been studying the Zend Framework for the last few days, and I'm trying to brush up on it and get familiar with it, as my work is considering moving to a set of web apps that is integrated with Zend Framework.   As a progamer who likes small simple and "targeted" programs Zend Framework seems like such overkill.  I can honestly see places where you would really want something this large and robust... but...
